I don't usually talk about other writers here. (This Blog is all about ME, ME, ME....) but I wanted to mention a terrific novella I read recently. It's called A Tail in Two Cities, it's by T. H. Ailward and it's published by Torquere in their 'Everyday Spectres' line. This is the rather unnerving generic cover.

I liked this one so much I wrote a review of it:

This is a warm, witty and beautifully crafted story. It tells what happens when two love affairs and two parallel universes get inextricably, and comically intertwined. The sex is not explicit, but the erotic charge is unmissable. And this deceptively simple tale works on several levels, taking a gently sardonic poke at man's inhumanity to man, and angels'... er... unangelic behaviour to demons (and other angels as well.) All this and the most sensuous tail you'll ever encounter. And of course, there's the urban unicorn. Every street should have one! This is a lovely story which you'll want to read again and again.

T. H. Ailward is a friend, and also a first class writer. This one really is worth a look!

Right, time to get back to the self absorption!

Freya's Bower has agreed to take a novella called 'The Price of Gold'.

It's an urban parable in which Freya herself appears to sort out the deeply shallow (!) life of a trader in Gold in the city of London.

It's the first full-scale paranormal I've written (although there are a couple of short stories) so I'm very pleased...

The new edition of Forbidden Fruit is out. This ezine is packed with articles and stories. And there's one of mine, a (mostly) gentle and haunting love story set in Brittany in Western France.

It's called L'Atelier du Temps .

This is the art work for my latest novel, 'An African Moon'. It's moody and sinister, which absolutely reflects the book. I'm so pleased with it.

I learned on 31st December that Freya's Bower has accepted my novel, 'The Wedding of the Wolf'. What a terrific way to start the New Year!

I really love this one, which is set in London and Tuscany.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I was working, but managed to get to a family party at 2300 on Christmas night. They had a big plate of turkey waiting for me.

I spent the week before Christmas driving up and down to Wales, a round trip from my home in London of about 350 miles. Last Friday, the whole of the southern part of Britain was shrouded in fog, and when I got back to London it was like driving through one of the old fashioned pea-soupers, which we thought we'd seen the back of after the series of Clean Air Acts which began in Britain in 1956. The fog even smelled foul, and it was a horrible green colour. Most unpleasant to drive in.

Well, I've done it! Just had my word count for NaNoWriMo verified. It came in at 62,567 words.

Now all I have to do is completely rewrite it! I found it exhausting, but quite exhilirating to write like this. But my usual writing style is to write a little, re-read, go back and polish, and so move on in small increments, and I found it very strange and rather frustrating not to be able to do this.

Nevertheless, it's been great fun. Now if I can just work out how to display my winner's certificate, I'll be happy!

This is what it's about:
